British Prime Minister Theresa May will meet with the US President today and hold a joint news conference at 1 pm ET.

May said the two countries must stand strong together, but also said the days of extending military interventions in foreign affairs were over, unless a real threat is imminent.

In her speech Thursday to Republican leaders Thursday, May said the two allies must retreat from the previous leadership ideas of Tony Blair and George W. Bush and renew the partnership between the US and UK. We must not repeat “failed policies of the past,” she said. May also said, while we can not continue to make the world in our own image, we must not stand idly by when a threat is real, and must intervene.

May said the US and Uk have a responsibility to lead “Because when others step up as we step back, it is bad for America, for Britain and the world.”
