We understand there are things that do not exist, like flying pigs for example; they can’t fly. Yet, we now understand that Trump’s press secretary and many of those around him have “alternative facts.” So maybe there is such a thing as flying pigs. I don’t know where they’re at. I haven’t seen a flying pig and I hope to never see one. Yet, it seems pigs may fly in an alternative universe.
Trump’s Press Secretary Sean Spicer seems to live in that alternative universe, where things, like a flying pig – for example – does exist. That is probably why he thought there were 1.5 million people in attendance for his boss’s inauguration. Even as all other sources – that live in our universe – believe differently. That is also why photographs and videos and other evidence does not apply. Alternate facts are not facts, but falsehoods in the universe most of us live in, but Trump and his gang of eccentrics live in a different universe.
I imagine Trump has always lived in an alternative universe. Up there in his golden tower it’s hard telling what he might see fly by his window. Just as it is impossible for him to imagine getting up in the morning, going to work, worry about paying a mortgage, a car payment, health insurance and still having a little something left; he has no idea. He has no idea what it’s like to be the average Joe because he’s never experienced that kind of life. So, is there any wonder that he cannot relate to the Americans who voted for him?
Certainly, he’s always known what to say and what to promise because those who live an average American life have told him. They’ve told him in the newspapers he reads and on the social media. I imagine he’s even read some books, like Huckleberry Finn and the like. Surely, he must shake his head at our daily dilemmas and wonder about the place we live and the facts we understand. Yet, he can’t quite grasp where we are at and that’s because he lives in an alternative universe, where alternative facts, like flying pigs, might exist.
So, when Trump and his people say something that seems unreasonable to us, it’s not their fault because they don’t live here. They live in the clouds, golden clouds, I imagine, where pigs fly and facts are not falsehoods, but alternative facts.
